How To Cure Acne - How Do I Choose An Acne Treatment?
By Nathan Thev
Find out which products are genuinely achieving superior results. Whilst this might on the surface seem so simple as to be self-evident, a lot of acne sufferers don't follow this rule.

Part of the trouble is that companies often have convincing sales pitches to sway an undecided consumer, and tend to inflate their successes. So as a result the buyer does not really have a grasp for the true performers in the acne market. This is a shame, as it is very common for sufferers to still be struggling with acne for many years as a result of choosing wrong product after wrong product. This is mainly because to properly see whether a treatment works it may be necessary to use a single regime for up to 6 months (despite it being doomed from the outset).

The advent of the internet as an information tool has transformed health care as patients are now much better informed about their health conditions. Whilst this is a greatly empowering fact, the internet can be a double edged sword - if you do not get the correct information, you will be very misinformed of your treatment and this can have serious consequences. There is a ton of misinformation out there from non-vetted internet sites. You need to identify these as such and ignore them.

Genuine sites on acne treatment products cannot infallibly tell you which is the best product for you. You won't know for sure until you actually try the product. But what a reputable site does is present product information to you in a comprehensive way and, most importantly, does it's best to pick up on product feedback from authority sources which it then presents to you. How do you interpret this information? Follow the rule. If a product is holding its own, it will get good consumer feedback; if it is a waste of time it will be torn apart by way of consumer feedback.

In short, you would be well advised to try the products that previous acne sufferers have had resounding success with - these products will obviously receive high praise in the feedback stakes. It's a bit like getting valuable word of mouth information from many different people.

The critical thing in all this is that consumer feedback is unfiltered, meaning that the product companies cannot censor bad comments or force people to make good comments about their product. Acne sufferers tend to be a frustrated and angry group of people (not all of them!) because of their previous product failures and this is helpful for you as they invariably tell things as they are, good or bad.

What the industry needs is an information site that helps the acne community make treatment choices based on the successes or failures of their peers. Such genuine sites are difficult to find and few and far between, but new sites are emerging as people realize the need for accurate, unbiased information. Most of these few sites are not authored by previous acne sufferers, but the best ones are. Also, the best sites can verify the feedback as they don't host forums where anyone can enter their views - open access commentating on such sites can be unreliable and therefore very misleading; of course in this industry, not everyone is being honest.

In my travels across the internet I have kept an eye on a few of the best sites over the last year, and in fact have subscribed to the very best ones. They are reliable and comprehensive and, in my eyes, serve as advocates for the acne community. Most importantly, they accurately measure consumer feedback on a product and directly provide you with a representative sample of this feedback from hundreds of pooled, reliable consumer opinions.
